Computing and DT

As the world changes and technology becomes more embedded into our everyday lives, we at Gordonbrock understand that a strong foundation in computing is essential for future success.  We recognise that the children we teach today will leave education and enter a world very different to our own.  We focus on delivering an experience based on the prime 21st century skills: Creativity and Innovation; Communication and Collaboration;  Research and Information Fluency; Critical Thinking, Problem Solving and Decision Making, Digital Citizenship and Technology Operations and Concepts.  By teaching these 21st Century skills we support our children to be safe and responsible in the digital world.

We feel that in the modern classroom technology should be as accessible as pen and paper: it should be omnipresent and available at all times.  We are committed to investing in the technology and infrastructure to make this vision.

Our vision for Design Technology (DT) at Gordonbrock is to foster an innovative and hands-on learning environment where pupils engage in project-based and collaborative research learning. We aim to ignite pupils’ creativity and problem-solving skills by immersing them in real-world design challenges that require them to work together, research extensively, and apply their knowledge to create practical solutions. Through dynamic, team-oriented projects, pupils explore various aspects of design, from concept development to final implementation, while integrating insights from diverse disciplines. This approach not only enhances their technical skills but also cultivates teamwork, communication, and critical thinking. By encouraging collaborative research and iterative design processes, we prepare pupils to tackle complex problems and adapt to the evolving demands of the modern world.
