At Gordonbrock, science is a journey of curiosity – pupils are encouraged to wonder about the world around them and beyond, and to find things out for themselves.
We want all our children to leave us as confident young scientists who can work scientifically – asking questions, making careful observations, carrying out fair tests, identifying and classifying, and using the data they gather to reach conclusions. Through hands-on enquiry – from living things and materials to forces, light and space – pupils build a secure, increasingly deep understanding of how the world works.
We also work to make science relevant and real, linking what pupils learn to their everyday lives and to genuine problems worth solving. Above all, we want to spark a lifelong curiosity about the natural world, and to give pupils the questioning, evidence-weighing habits of mind that science teaches.
